Welcome to Leire Parish Council Website

St. Peter's Church, Leire
The village of Leire lies in the county of Leicestershire, and the name of Leire is thought to originate from the old British name for the river Soar - which was at different times Leir, Leyre and Legre - a tributary of which has its source to the south of the village.
The Parish Council is made up of 5 councillors with one councillor elected to act as chairman, and the clerk. The council meet monthly in the village hall: times and dates can be found on the Meetings Calendar page. All parishioners are welcome to attend, and minutes will be published on this website.
This website has not previously been activated, but the council have decided that for a trial period, news of parish council matters will be posted as a means of communicating the latest information to parishioners. Please contact the clerk with any comments, positive or negative, you would like to bring to the attention of the council.
